Cylinder

L Edges + Screw = Cylinder without Cap

  • Step 1: In Front View, Create a Vertex-plane by Speedflow companion.
  • Step 2: Extrude (E) an edge along X axis with pressing Ctrl. Extrude again along Z axis.
  • Step 3: Add “Screw” modifier. Done!

enter image description here

  • Add Bottom Cap Segments by adding vertex from Loop Cut (Ctrl+R) or Bevel Weight)

! Don’t add Solidify on this case. Because it’s wrong cylinder.
But it can create creative shapes. just from edge.

] Edges + Screw = Cylinder Cap

( Recommend using this type.)
More flexible than Plane + Screw. Just Extrude or move vertex and edge to any shapes.
Easy to adjust size and accuracy by moving vertex and edges.

  • Step 1: In Front View, Create a Vertex-plane by Speedflow companion.
  • Step 2: Extrude (E) an edge along X axis with pressing Ctrl. Extrude again along Z axis. Extrude again along —X axis.
  • Step 3: Add “Screw” modifier. Done!

] Edges + Screw = Tube

( Recommend Using this type. )
More flexible than Plane + Screw. Just Extrude or move vertex and edge to any shapes.
Easy to adjust size and accuracy by moving vertex and edges.
If you want inner cylinder is empty , use this type.
! The center of Screw modifier is object origin.

  • Add Top/Bottom Cap segments and Height Segments by adding vertex ,not edges from Loop Cut (Ctrl + R) or Bevel Weight in Edit mode.

X edges + Screw = X cylinder

  • Create whatever you need Vertex, Edges , and then add Screw.
  • Change Height ,Radius by Vertex,Edges. (Edit Mode)
  • Change Vertices(Sides) of Cylinder by Screw’s Steps option.
  • Change Shapes by Vertex, Edges.

Plane + Screw = Cylinder/Tube

( Recommend using this type.)
! If you want Inner Cylinder is solid , use this type Plane + Screw

  • Step 1: In Front View, Create a Plane. Rotate X 90°. In Edit mode, move vertex and Edges.
  • Step 2: Add Screw , Set Axis is Y. named “Screw - Y - Rotation Segments”.

enter image description here

enter image description here

  • Change Rotation Segments by Screw - Y - Rotation Segments.

enter image description here

  • Change Height by moving Vertex/Edges.
  • Change Inner Radius by moving Vertex/Edges.
  • Change Outer Radius by moving Vertex/Edges.
  • Change from Tube to Cylinder by by moving Vertex/Edges. (X = 0)

enter image description here

  • Add Cap Segments by adding edges from Loop Cut (Ctrl + R) or Bevel Weight middle edge.
  • Add Height Segments by adding edges from Loop Cut (Ctrl + R) or Bevel Weight middle edge.

enter image description here

enter image description here

Yep. Height Segments and Cap Segments use the same Bevel Weight. But it can be change alone. Also change together.

  • Change Cap Segments by Bevel Weight .
In Edit mode, Select Height edge, call the Bevel Weight.

enter image description here

  • Change Height Segments by Bevel Weight .
In Edit mode, Select Horizontal edge, call the Bevel Weight.

Ring + Solidify = Tube

enter image description here

! This case can not add Height segments, because there’s no Height edge. But it can add Cap segments by Loop cut (Ctrl + R) or Bevel weight .

Displace1 + Displace2 + Screw + Solidify

Steps:

  • Step 1: In Front View, Create a Vertex-plane by Speedflow companion .
  • Step 2: Extrude (E) an edge along X axis with pressing Ctrl.
  • Step 3: Add Displace on 2nd vertex, named Displace - X - Outer Radius.
  • Step 4: Add Displace on 1st vertex, named Displace - X - Inner Radius.
  • Step 5: Add Screw , named Screw - Z - Rotation Segments.
  • Step 6: Add Solidify, named Solidify - Height.

! This case can not add Height segments, because there’s no Height edge.

enter image description here

  • Change Radius by Displace’s Strength.

enter image description here

  • Change Rotation Segments by Screw’s Steps.

enter image description here

  • Change Height by Solidify’s Thickness.

enter image description here

Displace + Screw1 + Screw2 + Solidify

Steps:

  • Step 1: Create a Vertex-plane by Speedflow companion .
  • Step 2: Add Displace, set Strength is 1, named Displace - X - Radius.
  • Step 3: Add 1st Screw . Checked Merge Vertices Option. named Screw - Z - Rotation Segments,
  • Step 4: Add 2nd Screw , set Angle is 0°, set Screw option is 5.
Checked Merge Vertices Option. named Screw - Z - Height/Segments.
  • Step 5: Add Solidify, set Thickness 1.

! This type Cylinder is made from a only Vertex. it can not add Loop Cut for Cap Segments.

enter image description here

enter image description here

  • Change Inner Radius by Displace’s Strength.

enter image description here

  • Change Outer Radius by Solidify’s Thickness.

enter image description here

We want a radius is 10 of cylinder . How ?

  • Step 1 : Set Displace’s Strength is 10 .

  • Step 2: Set Solidify’s Thickness is ” - 10 ” .

enter image description here

  • Set a Inner radius or Tube by Solidify’s Clamp .

enter image description here

  • Or set a Inner radius or Tube by Solidify’s Thickness, and Outer Radius.

Yep. Do you get it ? Displace’s Strength will limit the range of Solidify’s Thickness.

When Displace’s Strength is 10.

The range of Solidify’s Thickness is [-10, 10] by default.

enter image description here

But also you can change out of range of Solidify’s Thickness by input numbers.

enter image description here

  • Change Height by Screw - Z- Height/Segments’s Screw option.

enter image description here

  • Change Height Segments by Screw - Z- Height/Segments’s Steps option.

enter image description here

  • Change Rotation Segments by Screw - Z - Sides ‘s Steps option.
